Welcome to HIKE!

Do you enjoy camping and hanging out with a bunch of guys? Then HIKE may be for you! Are you ready for a break from farm or city life? Are you ready for a different type of challenge? HIKE just might be for you! Does hiking in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado sound like a great adventure? HIKE is definitely for you!

HIKE  is a ministry for young guys founded in 2005 when Arlynn Miller (CO) and Nate Stoltzfus (China) had a desire to impact the lives of youth. As a young man in his teens, Arlynn was greatly influenced by an older youth from Indiana who took a real interest in his life by taking him fishing, boating and simply giving value to his life through spending time together. For a young boy trying to find out who he is and wanting to find acceptance this was a big stepping stone in his life! Through this experience he was motivated to do the same in making a big difference in young boys lives by calling them to manhood, showing them how to lead and be the men God has called them to be. Nate spent several years at Fairplay Wilderness Boys Camp in South Carolina as a chief to troubled boys and also has a heart to make a difference in youth who are struggling in their lives or simply desire to be able to lead in a God honoring way.

Each day on the trail  character qualities are taught through leading out individually, as well as  working together as a team. Real life lessons are experienced moment by moment on the trail.

The purpose of HIKE is to provide an opportunity to teach about life and Godliness through different themes and situations that arise throughout the day. Life is full of surprises, disappointments, fun times, difficult times and so on. The trail has a way of giving us as chiefs many opportunities to teach about life and Godliness. HIKE 1 focuses more on teaching the importance of excellence in every area of our lives. HIKE 2 focuses on calling teenagers to start becoming men now, not waiting until the culture around them says they are men.

Two or three leaders called chiefs are along to supervise and to share the theme for the day. As chiefs our desire is to see young men grow into the men that God is calling them to be. We believe that this ministry could be a big stepping stone in their lives to learn character qualities that will benefit them the rest of their life. We want to show the value of what each person has to offer and that together we can really glorify God’s name, if we strive for excellence in everything we do! So come along and find out what HIKE is all about this summer!

In 2010 under the leadership of Darryl Swantz, HIKE 2 was started. It is a couple days longer, much more difficult physically, and is for ages 16-18.
